   Harry J. Schmidt, 97, formerly of Searles and the Hanska Area died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
   Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Searles with burial in the church cemetery.
   Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today and 7:30-10:15 a.m. Saturday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
   He is survived by his wife, Lucy Schmidt, a resident of the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law, MaryAnn and Melvin Wenninger of Sauk Centre, Rose and Edward Johnson of Baxter; sons and daughters-in-law, James "Jim" and Darlene Schmidt of New Ulm, Jerome "Jerry" and Phyllis Schmidt of Madelia; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Marcella "Sally" Wieland of New Ulm; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leo and Patsy Schmidt of New Ulm and Roland and Elaine Schmidt of Rochester.
   He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Ruth in 1943; a son, Daniel in 1974; and two other children in infancy; sisters, Viola Schmidt in infancy, Florence Fleck Streseman and Clara Wiedl; and brothers, Joseph in infancy and Edwin, Raymond, Roy and Elmer Schmidt.
   He was born on June 14, 1902 in Cottonwood Township, Brown County, to Joseph and Clara (Neidecker) Schmidt. He married Lucy Hillesheim on May 29, 1928,at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. They farmed in Linden Township, Brown County, for 35 years before retiring and moving to Searles in 1964. He had been a resident of the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm for approximately six years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Searles.

   James 0. Korslund, 97, of Northfield, formerly of New Ulm and Hanska, died Wednesday morning, September 22,1999 at Northfield City Hospital.
   Memorial services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Nora Unitarian Universalist Church in Hanska with burial in the church cemetery.
    Visitation is one hour before services at the church. Firle Funeral Home of Hanska is handling the arrangements.
   He is survived by his wife, Selma of Northfield; daughters, Kathy Holden and her husband John of Northfield, Donna Pace and her husband Jon of Byrant, Ark.; five grandchildren and spouses; three great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Kathryn Larson of Walker.
    He was preceded in death by his sisters, Olga Haugen, Nora Haukvik, Josie Wellmann, Agnes Korslund, infant sister Jessie; infant brother; sisters-in-law Ruth Larson, Gayle Larson, Selma Larson, Estelle Larson, Esther Larson, Alma Olson; brothers-in-law Olaf Haugen, Arthur Haukvik, Elmer Wellmann, Oscar Olson, Louis Larson, George Larson, Carl Larson, Alfred Larson, Oscar Larson, Thorvald Larson.
   James Olaf Korslund was born Aug. 22, 1902, to John and Julia (Larson) Korslund in Brown County. He graduated from Sleepy Eye High School and University of Minnesota Agriculture School. He married Selma Larson on Aug. 26, 1931 in the Nora Unitarian Universalist Church parsonage. The couple farmed in Hanska. They moved to New Ulm in 1992 and resided at Realife Apartments. He was a lifelong member of the Nora Unitarian Universalist Church. They moved to Northfield in 1998.

   Myrtle V. Hoffman, 89, of Lafayette, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999, at Good Samaritan Center in Lafayette.
   Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999, at First Lutheran Church in Lafayette, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
   Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today at Firle Funeral Home in New Ulm, and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
   She is survived by daughters, Nadean and her husband Leonard Johnson of New Ulm, Jo Ann Stumbo of Apache Junction, Ariz., Helen and her husband Fred Gratz of St. James; son, Conrad "Connie" and his wife Donna Hoffman of Byron; 15 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Amy Larson of Sequim, Wash., Linnea Blasingame of Port Angeles, Wash.; brother, Robert and his wife Alice Lindquist of Winthrop.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Chas B. in 1975; brothers, Levi Lindquist, Edgar Lindquist, Emil Lindquist, Henry Lindquist, Carl Lindquist; sisters, Sadie Nelson, Florence Youngblom, Alice Lindquist, Marcella Bieraugel; one great-granddaughter, Alexis "Lexie" Hoffman; one great-great-granddaughter, Sabrina; one daughter-in-law; and a son-in-law.
   She was born Nov. 25, 1909, in Bernadotte Township, to John and Anna (Webster) Lindquist. She attended the Malmberg School in Bernadotte Township. On April 6, 1927, she married Charlie "Chas B." Hoffman in Bernadotte Township. They farmed in Bernadotte Township and Sibley County until 1936, when they moved one mile west of Lafayette. She was active in the First Lutheran Church of Lafayette, serving as treasurer of the ELCW. She was also an active member of the Legion Auxiliary, serving as chaplain. She was a volunteer at the Good Samaritan Center in Lafayette, and was one of the original Gray Ladies. She became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Lafayette in December 1997.

   Gale A. Beltz, 70, of 38 East Mill Road, Gibbon, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999 at New Ulm Medical Center.
   Arrangements are pending with Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon.
