   Emma E. Dietl, 96, of New Ulm and a resident of the Lafayette Good Samaritan Home in Lafayette died Thursday, September 30, 1999 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
   Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with burial in the Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm.
   Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30-10 a.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The Christian Mothers will pray the rosary 4 p.m. Sunday at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. A parish prayer service will also be held 7 p.m. Sunday evening at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
   She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Marcella and Alphonse Goblirsch of New Ulm; grandchildren, Judith Liebl and her husband, Patrick of Arlington, and Patrick F. Kloeckl and his wife, Joy of rural New Ulm; 12 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren,
   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Conrad in 1989; sister, Martha Groebner; grandson, Randal Kloeckl.
   She was born Jan. 15, 1903 in Sigel Township, Brown County to Alexander and Anna (Puchner) Flor. She attended District #68, Sigel Township Country School. She married Conrad Dietl on May 3, 1921 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Searles. After marriage they farmed in Linden Township, Brown County, until they retired in 1950 and moved into New Ulm. She also worked for Tillmann's Bakery and was the housekeeper for the Holy Trinity Rectory in New Ulm. She had been a resident of the Lafayette Good Samaritan Home in Lafayette for two years. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, and the Christian Mothers Society.

   Edna Postel, 91 of New Ulm died Friday, October 1, 1999 at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato.
   Services will be 9 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in the St. Paul's Cemetery.
   Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church Arrangements are with the Firle Funeral Home in New Ulm.

   Catherine Kauffmann, 99, of Arlington died Wednesday, September 29, 1999 at the Arlington Good Samaritan Center.
   Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Arlington with burial in the church cemetery.
   Visitation will be 2-5 and 6:30-8 p.m. Sunday at the Fenske Funeral Home in Arlington and one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be a parish prayer service 4:45 p.m. and Rosary service 8 p.m. both Sunday at the funeral home.
   She is survived by daughter and son-in-law; Eleanor and Harold Otto of Arlington; son and daughter-in-law Michael and Jean Kauffmann of Arlington; sister Minnie Brandt of LeSueur; brother, Fr. Joe Robeck of San Francisco, Calif., seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren.
   She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Henry in 1980, five brothers; four sisters.
   She was born Aug. 28, 1900 at Jessenland Township, Henderson to John and Theresa (Schloegel) Robeck. She attended eight years of country school. She married Henry Kauffmann in Green Isle. The couple farmed n Green Isle Township for many years. She moved to Oak Terrace Apts. in Gaylord in 1992 where she remained until 1995 when she became a resident of the Arlington Good Samaritan Center. She was a member of St. Mary's CCW.

   Alvin Walter Essig, 81, of Springfield, died Thursday, September 30, 1999 at his home.
   Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Springfield with burial in the Springfield City Cemetery.
   Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 -9 a.m. Monday at the Sturm Funeral Home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
   He is survived by his wife Angalia; sons Merlin and his wife Linda Essig of Rochester, Rodney and his wife Shary Essig of Nashville, Tenn.; daugher Barbara and husband Larry Bushard of Longmont, Colo.; five grandchildren and spouses; two great-grandchildren; sisters Alvera Becker of South St. Paul and Lydia Lenzen of Tracy; uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
   He was preceded in death by his parents.
   He was born Aug. 15, 1918 in Germantown Towhship, Cottonwood County to Walter Christ and Lydia (Nickel) Essig. He lived on the home farm for 63 years, and married Angalia Todnem June 6, 1943 in Sleepy Eye. They continued to farm until moving into Springfield in 1981. He also worked for Sanborn Manufacturing Company for 15 years, retiring in 1985. He was a former member of Red Rock United Methodist church and following the move to Springfield joined the Springfield United Methodist Church. He sang solo's and with the qartet of the Red Rock Men's Chorus for 50 years, and 15 years with the Tracy and Windom Barbershoppers groups. In his later years he sang at St. John's Lutheran Home for the enjoyment of the residents. He was a member of the Springfield Lion's Club, the Farmers Health and Golf Club in Sanborn and Springfield Golf Club, served as a church usher and was a volunteer ticket seller for church events and fundraisers.

   Raymond L. Becker, 70, of North Mankato, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999 at Mankato House hospice.
