Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Landkamer Johnson-Boman Funeral Home, with burial at a later date. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife, Doris of Mankato; sons, Mark of Grovetown, Ga., Matt of Phoenix, Ariz., and John of Whittier, Ak.; daughter, Marie Eckert of Mankato; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by three sisters. He was born on Dec. 20, 1924, in New Ulm, to Edmund and Anna (Weier) Macho. He attended school in New Ulm before serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Doris Hippert on June 19, 1948. For 47 years, he worked for ADM. He retired in 1989 as a foreman He helped in the ceramic shop at Good Counsel. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church. Luella Nelson, 76, of Glencoe and formerly of Green Isle, died on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, as a result of an automobile accident near Glencoe. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Arlington. Visitation is 4-9 p.m. Friday at Kolden-Fenske Funeral Home in Arlington and one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. She is survived by her husband, Merlin; daughter, Starla (Michael) Schilling of Arlington; sons, Jerry (Carmen) Nelson of Glencoe, Dan (Darlene) Nelson of Kasota, Steven (Heidi) Nelson of Glencoe, Ben Nelson of Waconia; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Adeline Prahl of New Ulm, Loretta Brezinski of Marshall, Mae (Selmer) Sanderson of Florenc; brothers, Dale (Beverly) Evans of Balaton, Kenneth (Connie) Evans of Coon Rapids Norman (Virginia) Evans of Russell, Harvid Evans of Russell; sister-in-law, Lorraine Evans of Russell. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Emil Jr. and Delbert Evans; and sister, Mabel Vercruysse. She was born on May 28, 1925, in Lyon County, Minnesota, to Emil Evans and the former Alma Swanson. She graduated from Lynd High School in 1943. She married Merlin Nelson on Jan. 11, 1946, in Marshall, Minnesota. They lived in Green Isle for 29 years. She ran an upholstery business from her home. They later moved to Glencoe. She was a member of the Green Isle American Legion Auxiliary 408, Arlington V.F.W Auxiliary 6031, Minnesota D.A.V Auxiliary and Green Isle Senior Citizens Go Getters. She was active in Zion Lutheran Church in Arlington and the Rebecca Circle of Ladies Aid. I Jacob Meyer, 88, of Vesta, died on Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, at the Parkview Nursing Home, Belview. Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lucan, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lucan, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and continues one hour prior to services at the church Saturday. Kulow Funeral and Cremation Service of Echo is in charge of arrangements. He is survived by son, Lauren and wife Joyce of Lucan; daughters-in-law Deb Meyer of Milroy and Pat Meyer of Andover; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Grace Tellinghuisen, of Willow Lake, S.D. He was preceded in death by his wife on Oct. 24, 2000; his parents; four sisters; two brothers; and sons, Daniel in 1999 and Kurtis in 1998. He was born Jan. 4, 1913, at Little Rock, Iowa, to George and Mary (Lutterman) Mayer. In 1915 the family moved to Minnesota and in 1918 settled on a farm north of Lucan. Ha attended rural school. He married Leona Mayer, of Echo, on Sept. 25, 1940, in Lamberton. They lived for a few years on a farm south of Echo and then moved to the family farm north of Lucan where they remained until 1978 when they retired and moved to Vesta. He also did trucking and custom work. He was active as a 4-H leader and the Redwood County Fair as Superintendent of Poultry. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Lucan, where he was on the Cemetery Board and church board. He was a member of the Lucan School Board for 13 years.
