Washington, New Ulm, died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, at Lafayette Good Samaritan Center . Arrangements are pending with Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. Edwin J. Hahn, 91, of Gaylord, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, at Gaylord Lakeview Home. Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gaylord, with burial at the church cemetery. Visitation is 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Egesdal Funeral Home, Gaylord, is in charge of arrangements. He is survived by his wife, Irene; daughter and son-in-law, Colletta and Wallace Wierson of Excelsior; grandson, Arick Wierson of Sao Paulo, Brazil; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister Edna Manthey. He was born Dec. 6, 1907, in Sibley Township, Sibley County, to Charles L. (Karl) Hahn and Anna Franke. He graduated from Gaylord High School in 1927, and was a member of the state championship basketball team in 1926. He married Irene Penk on Nov. 15, 1934, in Gibbon. They farmed in Sibley County, rural Gaylord, until 1973, when they moved to Gaylord. He drove a school bus for Gaylord Public Schools from 1955-1972. They became residents of Amberfield Apartments in 1994. He became a resident of Gaylord Lakeview Home in 1996. He was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Gaylord, where he served as an elder and a member of the finance board. Alma K. Alsleben, 89, of Arlington Good Samaritan Center, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999 in Arlington. Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, New Auburn, with burial in the city cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Friday at Egesdal Funeral Home, Gaylord, and will continue one hour before services at the church. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and Duane Bussler of rural Glencoe, Marilyn and Raymond Hahn of Gaylord; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Erna Henke of Gaylord, Delma Boese of Gaylord; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, on Aug. 8, 1943; brothers, Otto and Elmer Hahn; and sisters, Emma Polzin, Louise Franke and Ella Stark. She was born April 15, 1910, in New Auburn Township, Sibley County, to August and Louisa (Alsleben) Hahn. She attended District No. 48 schools in rural Gaylord. She married Alfred Alsleben on Oct. 11, 1927, in New Auburn. They lived on a farm west of New Auburn. In 1943, she moved to New Auburn. She worked as a cook at New Auburn Public Schools, and she worked at Fairway Grocery Store, New Auburn, and Green Giant in Glencoe. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, New Auburn, and WELCA, and she taught Sunday school for 25 years. She was a member and past president of the New Auburn Senior Citizens and a charter member and past president of the Wonder Club of New Auburn. Dennis Briest, 68, of rural Arlington, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at Gaylord Lakeview Home. Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Gaylord, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Thursday at Egesdal Funeral Home, Gaylord, and will continue one hour before services at the church. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, James and Myra Briest of rural Arlington; two nieces; and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was born Sept. 2, 1931, in New Ulm to Alvin and Alice (Rennek) Briest. He graduated from Gaylord High School in 1949. He farmed with his brother in Sibley and Kelso townships. He retired in 1993. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Gaylord. Audrey Renner of Santa Rosa, Calif., formerly of Springfield, died Sunday in Santa Rosa. Funeral arrangements are pending with Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.
