Walter Elvin, 71, of Worthington, formerly of St. James, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999 at Worthington Regional Hospital. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, Worthington, with private family burial following. Benson's Funeral Home, Worthington, is in charge of arrangements. He is survived by his wife, Alberta; daughters, Sandy Bents and husband Calvin of Rushmore, Lois Martens of Chandler, Ariz., Vida Iten and husband Larry and Arlene Lowe and husband Kevin, all of Worthington; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Vida Altemus of Norwalk, Ohio, Marie Bates of Riverside, Calif., Anita and husband Vince McGowan of Johnstown, Penn. and Carole and husband Albert Ahern of Madelia; and brother Raymond (Chick) and wife Dagny Elvin of St. James. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter. He was born Oct. 12, 1928, in St. James, to Charles and Sarah Williams Elvin. He graduated from St. James High School in 1947. He started working on the Omaha, St. Paul and Minneapolis Railroad in June 1947. He married Alberta (Bobbie) Mogenson on March 17, 1949 in St. James. They moved to Worthington in 1951, and he began working for Chicago Northwestern Railroad. He retired in December 1991. He was a member of the United Transportation Union and First Lutheran Church, Worthington. Terry Lee Milleson, 49, of Redwood Falls, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999, at his home. Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Church of Christ, Redwood Falls, Arrangements are pending with Nelson Funeral Home, Redwood Falls. Evelyn E. Saelens, 81, of Burnsville, formerly of Wanda and Revere, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at Apple Valley Health Care Center, Apple Valley. Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mary, Mother of the Church Catholic Church, Burnsville, with burial 4 p.m. at St. Paul's Calvary Cemetery, Walnut Grove. Visitation is 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Jacobsen Funeral Home, Walnut Grove, is in charge of arrangements. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and William Baxter of Walnut Grove, Marjorie and Sam Bert of Richardson, Texas, Mary and Robert Kochenderfer of Bloomington, and Teresa and John Bloom of Ariz.; sons, Richard of Coon Rapids, Donald of Minneapolis and David and wife Candace of Burnsville; 29 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother, Lawrence Ludwig of Monticello; sisters, Frances Eichten of Monticello, Janet Sanchez of San Diego and Phyllis Prahl of Redwood Falls; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in May 1999; a brother and a sister. She was born Feb. 5, 1918, in Wanda, to Peter John and Ellen (Dooner) Ludwig. She attended school in Wanda through the 8th grade and attended Lamberton High School, after her parents moved to the Revere area. She married Frank Albert Saelens on Nov. 27, 1935 in Wanda. The couple farmed northwest of Revere for several years before moving to the Twin Cities area in 1969. She entered Apple Valley Health Care Center in June 1996. She was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church Catholic Church, Burnsville.
