Hulda J. Adams , 93, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004 at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield. Funeral services are 1 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 2, at St. John Lutheran Home Chapel in Springfield. Visitation starts at noon at the chapel. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home of Springfield. She is survived by her children, John Q. Adams and Gaylord Bruce Adams, both of California; and two grandchildren. Hulda Adams was born on Feb. 21, 1911, in Three Rivers Township, Redwood County, to August Carl and Ida (Rhode) Raddatz. Charles F. Dwyer , 25, of 321 S. Franklin Street in New Ulm, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, in Linden Township, Brown County. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with burial at a later date. Father John A. Richter will officiate. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Charles is survived by his wife, Amber Dwyer of New Ulm; daughter, Isis M. Dwyer of New Ulm; mother, Pamela Page and her husband Harold of Mountain View, Missouri; father, Thomas Dwyer and his wife Gina of Grand Rapids; a sister, Jennifer Dwyer and her friend, Aaron Miller both of Seattle, Washington; paternal grandmother, Lois Dwyer of Waterville; and paternal great-grandmother, Myrtle Reed of Morristown. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jan and Eugene "Joe" Oziah; and by his paternal grandfather, Wilfred "Buck" Dwyer. Charles Fredrick Dwyer was born August 31, 1979, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Thomas and Pamela (Oziah) Dwyer. He attended New Ulm Public Schools. He married Amber L. Schmidt on Oct. 9, 1998, in Mountain View, Missouri. After marriage they lived in New Ulm where he held various jobs in the area, working for Buntjers Cleaning Company in New Ulm most recently. Charles was an artist, actor, and musician. He loved video games, playing guitar, reading and writing novels. Elenora Huhn , 87, formerly of St. George, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004, at the Lakeview Nursing home in Gaylord. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 4, at the St. George Catholic Church in St. George with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday and will continue on Thursday from 7:30 until 9 a.m. at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. Iffert , 89, of Morgan, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004, at Redwood Area Hospital in Redwood Falls Visitation is 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 4, with a 6:30 p.m. parish scripture service at Nelson-Martin Funeral Service In Morgan Services are 11:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 5, at St. Michael's Catholic Church In Morgan, with burial in the church cemetery. He was born Nov. 8, 1914 in Olney, Ill., to Joseph and Cleopha (Schulte) Iffert He served In the Army during World War II. Gloria Leider , 67, of New Ulm, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004, at the New Ulm Medical Center. Services are 10:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 5, at the United Church of Christ, New Ulm with burial in New Ulm City Cemetery. Visitation is Friday at the church, from 9 a.m. until services. Lietz , 86, formerly of Brownton died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004 , at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe. Funeral service is 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 4, at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brownton with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 - 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brownton. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Joseph Hanson Lueck , infant son of Sarah Hanson and William Lueck of Hanska, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at the North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale during childbirth. He was preceded in death by great-grandfathers, Sylvester Hanson, William Fleet and Otto Lueck, Sr. Lloyd Meinert , 89, of New Ulm died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. Funeral service will be 11 a.m.., Wednesday, Nov. 3, at the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with burial in the Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 7:30-8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Wednesday. Lloyd is survived by his wife of 64 years, Erna Meinert of the Oak Hills Assisted Living in New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law, Marion and Richard Schapekahm of New Ulm and Dorothy and John Russell of New Ulm; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Rachel Meinert of Tucson, Arizona and Robert and Kathie Meinert of Winnebago; twelve grandchildren; and sixteen great- grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Melva and Leonard Koch of Lamberton; and sisters-in-law, Mrs. Delbert (Violet) Meinert of Springfield and Mrs. Raymond (Hildegard) Meinert of Morgan. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mildred Fiebiger; and brothers, Delbert and Raymond "Ray" Meinert. Lloyd Sylvester Meinert was born on May 12, 1915, in Leavenworth Township, Brown County, to John and Delia (Vollmer) Meinert. On March 26, 1940, he married Erna Koch at the Lutheran Parsonage in Wanda, Minn. He farmed in rural Sleepy Eye until 1960 when they retired from farming and moved to Sleepy Eye in 1963. He was a caretaker for the Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye for three and a half years, was a custodian for the Sleepy Eye Public Schools and Brown County REA until retiring in 1979. They moved to New Ulm in 1993. He was a past member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye and a current member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Maynard M. Nelson , 76, of rural New Ulm, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at the St. John's Lutheran Home in Springfield from complications of Alzheimer's. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004 at the United Church of Christ in New Ulm with the Reverend Hank Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. and Saturday from 7:30 until 8:30 a.m. at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and then will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Saturday. Maynard is survived by his wife, Kay Nelson, of rural New Ulm; daughters, Natalie Green and her husband, Greg, of Lakeville, Shelley Nelson of St. Paul; sons, Curtis Nelson and his wife, Cathy Glick, of Forest Lake, Reid Nelson and his wife, Lily McCabe of Window Rock, Arizona; a stepson, Drew Larson and his wife, Teresa of Springfield; three grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; a sister, Marlys Bartholomew and her husband, Chuck, of Rochester; a brother, La Verne Nelson and his wife, Lola, of Harrison, Arkansas, and by his mother-in-law, Madelyn Rasmusson of New Ulm. He was preceded in death by his parents, Magnus and Marie Nelson, and by his first wife, Anita Nelson, on January 19, 1990. Maynard Melvin Nelson, the son of Magnus and Marie (Paukert) Nelson was born on August 8, 1928 in Blooming Prairie. He graduated from the Blooming Prairie High School. He then attended the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1952 with a degree in Wildlife Biology. On January 12,1952, Maynard was united in marriage to Anita Myhrvold in Marshall. After her death he married Kay (Rasmusson) Larson on March 23, 1991, in Springfield. In January of 1952 Maynard started his career with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) working as a Wildlife Biologist in Madelia. In 1966 he was promoted to the Game Research Supervisor in St. Paul and in 1973 he became the Regional Administrator for Region #4 based out of New Ulm. Maynard was in charge of establishing and building the Regional DNR Headquarters in New Ulm. After 32 years of service with the DNR, Maynard retired in 1984. In 1970 Maynard started planting Christmas trees at his farm in Forest Lake adding to his business in 1984 by starting a Christmas Tree Farm at his home in rural New Ulm in 1984, naming it the "Nelson's Christmas Tree Farm." This he operated until 1997. During this time Maynard was known throughout the community as the "Christmas Tree Man." He was a member of the United Church of Christ and was active in numerous civic and wildlife organizations. Maynard was a loving, hardworking person and one that had a great sense of humor. Amy Renner , 90, formerly of New Ulm, died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at the Sleepy Eye Care Center. Funeral arrangements are pending with the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm awaiting arrival of family from out of state. Jerry L. Schoof , 68, of 1314 N. German St., in New Ulm, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2004 at his home. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 4, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. He is survived by his sister, Lucille Riederer of Sleepy Eye; brothers, John Schoof of Essig and Howard Schoof of Sleepy Eye. Jerry Lester Schoof was born Jan. 14, 1936, in New Ulm to Benjamin and Norma (Iesh) Schoof. Earl Schroeder , 85, of Evan, formerly of New Ulm, died Saturday, October 30, 2004 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in St. Cloud. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Rev. Donald Sutton officiating. Burial with full military honors conducted by the New Ulm Veterans Organizations will follow in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and 7 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Earl Stanley Schroeder, the son of Walter and Ida (Harmening) Schroeder, was born July 18, 1919 near New Ulm where he spent his youth and attended country school. He enlisted in the United States Army January 6, 1941, serving in Battery C Anti-aircraft Artillery Gun Battalion as a corporal during World War II. Following his honorable discharge on August 17, 1945, Earl returned home where he worked for the former Eagle Roller Mill. He was united in marriage to Myrtle Hamann June 18, 1946 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. They made their home in New Ulm where Earl spent most of his working life working for various area grain elevator operations. The couple moved to Evan in May, 1996. His wife died March 24, 2003. Earl was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Survivors include daughters, Rebecca Netzke and her husband Ronald of Evan, Rhonda Dahlgren and her husband Joel of New Ulm; son, Jeffrey Schroeder of Evan; seven grandchildren, Brian Netzke and his wife Ronda of Searles, Todd Netzke and his wife Kara of Red Wing, Jason Netzke and his wife Amy of Sleepy Eye, Steven Netzke and his wife Kari of Avon, Randy Netzke of Mankato, Andrew Kitzberger of New Ulm, Daniel Kitzberger of Duluth; 15 great grandchildren; brother, Dennis Schroeder and his wife Grace of Champaign, IL; two cousins, Jerome Harmening and his wife Bernice, Lucille Mack and her husband Vernon, of New Ulm; brother-in-law, Delton Hamann and his wife Rosie of Lafayette; sisters-in-law, Shirley Forst and her husband Gerald of Gibbon, Betty Jarvis and her husband Gerald of Rochester; nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Earl was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Paul Kitzberger and an infant sister. Grace Vorwerk , infant daughter of Christopher and Jennifer (Ries) Vorwerk, was stillborn Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato. Grace will be buried with her grandpa Ron Ries, in a private family service at St. George Catholic Cemetery. Schmucker Funeral Service of New Ulm is handling the arrangements. In addition to her parents, baby Grace is survived by her siblings, Alex and Allyson Vorwerk at home; grandparents, Bruce and Vicki Vorwerk, and Barb Ries, all of New Ulm; great-grandparents, Wilmar and Eunice Vorwerk of New Ulm, and Renee Annexstad of Mercedes, TX; uncles, Andrew Vorwerk and his wife Konnie of Sartell, Jeremy Vorwerk and his wife Ruth of Sauk Rapids, Nathan Vorwerk of Lafayette, Jason Ries and his wife Cindy of New Ulm; aunt, Jackie Forst and her husband Glen of Gibbon. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Ron Ries in 2003.
