   Bernice (Mrs. Morris) Hippert, 77, of 2526 South Bridge Street #32, died Wednesday, November 17, 1999 at the Winthrop Good Samaritan Center.
   Arrangements are pending with the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.

   Carrie Gilb, 84 of Walnut Grove died at her home Saturday, November 13, 1999.
   Services are 11 a.m. today at English Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove with burial in the Walnut Grove Cemetery. Jacobson Funeral Home in Walnut Grove is handling the arrangements.
   She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Jeanine and Bob Christy of Sacred Heart; Judy and Keith Boe of Presso, Ariz.; Sally and Bruce Hassinger of Denver, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leo in 1981; son Charlie in 1980; daughter Barbara in 1998 ; two grandsons.
   She was born July 5, 1915 in Marengo, Iowa to John and Mary (Burrell) McComb. The family moved to the Walnut Grove area where she attended school, graduating as Valedictorian in 1933. She married Leo V. Gilb in March 1933 and made their home in Tracy. In 1937 they moved to a farm north of Walnut. In 1956 they moved to Walnut Grove. She was a member of English Lutheran Church, the 20th Century Club, General Federated Womens Club of Redwood County. She was active in the Republican party and served as a delegate to several conventions. She was also a member of the Gales Extension Club and was instrumental in the start of the Plum Creek Bookmobile.

   John W. Olson, 65 of Minneapolis and formerly of Redwood Falls died Monday, November 15, 1999 at the Hennepin county Medical Center in Minneapolis.
   Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls with burial in the Redwood Falls Cemetery.
   Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 a.m.-Noon Friday at the Nelson Funeral Home in Redwood Falls, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
   He is survived by his wife; daughters Michelle Huxford and husband Jeff of Owatonna, Melanie Cook and husband Doug of Springfield, and Andrea Gerth and husband Randy of Kirkland, Wash.; grandchildren: Brandon Sandberg, Ryan Huxford and Connor Gerth; sister Eleanor Steffens and husband Vern of Faribault; nieces, nephews, other relatives.
   He was born Oct. 1, 1934 in Fergus Falls to Jesse and Lucille (Barber) Olson. The family moved to Redwood Falls in 1937 and he attended Redwood Falls Schools, graduating from Redwood Falls High School. He graduated from McCalester College of St. Paul in 1956. He joined the United States Navy in 1956, attained the rank of LTJG, and was discharged in 1959. He was a National Bank examiner 1960 -1966. He worked for Ottertail Power Company as an auditor in Fergus Fall until 1968 when he returned to bank examining for the FDIC. He joined Farmers State Band in Morton in 1971. Later he managed real estate and sold insurance. He took up residence in the Veterans Home in Minneapolis in 1988. He married Dona Hitterdal on Dec. 21, 1968 in Hitterdal. He belonged to the Zuhrah Shrine, Rotary Club, and Travelers Club. He was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and sang in the choir.
