   James L. 'Jim' Niehoff , 78, of New Ulm died Thursday, November 25, 2004 at his home after a short battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Father John Richter celebrating. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Monday and will continue from 7:30-10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a rosary by the St. Patrick's Council #1026 Knights of Columbus at 6:30 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. both Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery in New Ulm with full military rites being conducted by the New Ulm Veterans Organizations.
   Jim is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Ron Meinhardt of Bloomington, Lynn and Lyle Austad of St. Joseph, and Patty and Chris Sampson of Vista, California; a son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Mary Niehoff of St. Cloud; thirteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Lester Domeier, Elaine Roiger, and Margaret and Charles Forster all of New Ulm, Lorraine Christle and Mary Lou Pischke both of California and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Tricia Austad, and by a brother, Charles Niehoff.
   Jim Niehoff, the son of Lawrence and Louise (Boor) Niehoff was born on September 25, 1926 in St. James.
   He graduated from New Ulm Public High School in 1944. After high school graduation Jim enlisted in the United States Navy serving from 1944 to 1946, one of those years serving in Okinawa. After his honorable discharge Jim attended the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis and graduated in 1948. Jim worked for the City of New Ulm and retired as the New Ulm Street Commissioner in 1988 after a public service career that encompassed 31 years and 8 months. Jim was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, a member of the 3rd & 4th degree Knights of Columbus in New Ulm, and a member of the Seifert-Bianchi, American Legion Post #132 in New Ulm. Jim and his wife volunteered their time for 16 years delivering Meals on Wheels. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be given to the New Ulm Area Catholic Schools (NUACS) or the Rett Syndrome Association.

   Zella E. Johnson, 91, of Nicollet died Friday, November 26, 2004 at the Betheny Home in Alexandria where she had been a resident for the past year.
   Funeral service will be 11:00 Monday, November 29, 2004 at the Scandian Grove Lutheran Church in Norseland with Pastor Jerry Lanes officiating. Burial will be in the Scandian Grove Lutheran Cemetery in Norseland. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Monday.
   Zella is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Leonard and Betty Ann, Mervin and Lucretia Johnson all of Alexandria, and Larry and Patty Johnson of Rockford, Illinois; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a sister, Marion Bachmeyer of Mankato; a brother, Edward Larson of Mankato. Zella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard on April 6, 1991; three sisters; and seven brothers.
   Zella Eveline Larson was born on January 21, 1913 in Granby Township, Nicollet County to Oswald and Ester (Anderson) Larson. On June 28, 1936, she married Leonard J. Johnson. Zella worked at the Holiday House in St. Peter for thirty five years until her health no longer allowed her to work retiring at the age of seventy five. She resided in Nicollet after Leonard's death until 1999 when she moved to Bethel Manor Apartments in Alexandria. Zella entered the Betheny Home in 2003. She loved her flowers and her vegetable gardens, and showing them off to her family and friends. Zella also loved bingo and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

   David Ouren, 60, of Hanska, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.
   Funeral service is TENTATIVELY scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hanska. Burial with full military honors will follow at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation is TENTATIVELY scheduled for 3 ­ 7 p.m. Tuesday at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm and one hour prior to service at the church. A complete obituary will appear in a later edition.
