   Hedwig "Hattie" Loftness , 88, of Gibbon died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at Fairfax Community Home.
   Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon with burial in the church cemetery.
   Visitation is 3-7 p.m. today and 7:30-11 a.m.Thursday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon and will continue one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.
   She is survived by her husband, Oliver 'Ollie' Loftness, a resident of the Belle Plaine Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine; daughters and son-in-law, Janet and Richard Graupman of rural Gibbon, and Linda Wolter of Mission Viejo, Calif.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson; a sister and brother-in-law, Emma and Carl Bourman of St. Paul; brother and sister-in-law, William and Dorothy Burdorf of St. Paul; sisters-in-law, Lucille Burdorf of Courtland, and Lorraine Burdorf of West St. Paul; brother-in-law, Otto Trebelhorn of Eau Claire, Wis.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Martha Johnson and Anna Trebelhorn; brothers, Paul, Arthur, Fredrich, Elmer, Henry Burdorf; and a brother Raymond Burdorf in infancy.
   She was born April 20, 1913 in Moltke Township, Sibley County, to William and Emma (Mueller) Burdorf. She graduated from Gibbon High School. She attended Mankato Teachers College. She taught country school and was a telephone operator in Windom and Gibbon. On June 3, 1945, she married Oliver Loftness at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon. They farmed in Severance Township, Sibley County until moving into Gibbon in 1974.
   She became a resident of the Fairfax Community Home since February 1998. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid, and she taught Sunday school for many years.
