   Margot 'Maggie' Kohn, 70, 1108 S. Payne in New Ulm died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999 at her home.
   Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm with burial in the city cemetery.
   Visitation is 4 - 8 p.m. today and 7:30-11 a.m. Tuesday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm.
   She is survived by her husband, Richard Kohn of New Ulm; daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Dave Wenniger of Prior Lake, Debra and Ronald Jones of Belle Plaine; sons and daughters-in-law, Kurt and Nancy Kohn of Hoquiam, Wash., Kenneth and Rose Kohn of rural New Ulm; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard R. Kohn, Jr. in 1957; and seven brothers and sisters.
   She was born on Feb. 24, 1929, in Kaiserslautern, Germany to Johanns and Anna (Blauth) Rahm. She married Richard Kohn on Jan. 19, 1957, in Kaiserslautern, Germany. They lived in New Ulm. She was a cook at Tropicana Supper Club in New Ulm and was currently a cook at the New Ulm Medical Center.

   Russell Essig , 84, of Hazelton Township, Aitken, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, at his home.
   Services are today at the Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood, with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Crystal.
   Sorenson-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitken handled arrangements.
   He is survived by his wife, Wilma; daughters, Janet and husband Wally Mai of Las Vegas, Janice and husband Robert Drew of Falkland, N.C., JoAnn and husband Robert Sr. Holmin of Aitkin, Gloria and husband Harvey Stolp of Elk River, Barbara and husband Walter Horejsi of Henderson, Nev., and Rita and husband Brad Ray of Coon Rapids; sons, Walter and wife Lorie Essig of Granite Falls and William and wife Clara Essig of W. Fargo, N.D.; 39 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and five great- great-grandchildren.
   He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
   He was born May 24, 1915, in Warren, to Otto and Mary (Brandt) Essig. He moved with his family to Springfield, where he attended school. He married Wilma Manson on Nov. 4, 1926, in Atwater. He served as a Navy Seabee during World War II. He worked for Otis Elevator company in Minneapolis for 31 years. During retirement, he and his lived in Hazelton Township. He belonged to the American Legion in Aitkin and Robbinsdale.

   Reinhard F. 'Gramps' Volk , 87, of Nicollet died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato.
   Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet with burial in the church cemetery.
   Visitation is 4 - 8 p.m. today at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and one hour prior to time of service at the church on Tuesday.
   He is survived by his wife, Eunice M. Volk of Nicollet; a daughter, Janice Wagner of Nicollet; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerald "Pete" and Diane Volk of Nicollet, James and Sandy Volk of Kasota, and Roger and Vicki Volk of New Ulm; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ervin Volk of St. Peter.
   He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence and Herbert Volk; sisters, Eleonora Volk and Verna Hartman; and by a brother-in-law, Dick Wagner.
   He was born Aug. 16, 1912, in Nicollet to Fred and Elise (Kastens) Volk. He attended country school in Nicollet Township, Nicollet County. On July 12, 1935 he married Eunice M. Roberts in Nicollet. He worked as a carpenter all of his life and was employed by Volk Brothers Construction in Nicollet. He owned and operated Reinies Cafe in Nicollet for 11 years, drove truck for the Nicollet Co-op, and worked as a bartender. He was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet where he also served on the church council. He was a charter member and past president of the Nicollet Conservation Club. He was a former member of the Nicollet Fire Department where he was chief.
