Linus Bauer , 75, of 820 Summit Ave., died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at the Fairfax Community Home. Arrangements are pending with the Firle Funeral Home in New Ulm. Reuben Essig, 83, of rural Sanborn died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at Springfield Municipal Hospital. Services are 11 a.m. Friday at t Red Rock United Methodist Church south of Sanborn with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Anderson-Schmidt Jeffers Funeral Chapel in Jeffers. He is survived by many nieces and nephews including the niece he raised, Chiquita Corbin and her husband Gary of Dover, Tenn., and their three children; and a sister-in-law Lillian Essig of Partyville, Wis. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and six sisters, Christian, Ada, Walter, Herman, Elty, Wesley, Hertha, Magdalene, Rose and Edna. He was born on Nov. 13, 1916, in Cottonwood County to Christian and Emile (Luck) Essig. He attended District No. 53 rural school. He graduated from high school from Jeffers Public schools in 1936. He graduated from a business course in 1938. He was a farmer who raised livestock. He was a lifetime member of the Red Rock Church, where he served as Sunday School superintendent for 20 years, church treasurer for nine years, a Sunday School teacher and also a secretary of the Sunday School. He was a member of the board of directors of the Sanborn Elevator for 15 years and was secretary of that board for eight years. Darlene Prahl , 61, of Arlington, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at Queen of Peace Hospital, New Prague. Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sibley Township. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Friday and 7:30-8:30 a.m. Saturday at Egesdal Funeral Home, Gaylord, and continues one hour before services at the church. A complete obituary will be published in Friday's edition. Peter H. Ganske, 89, formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999, at Midway Medical Center in Los Angeles, Calif. Mass of Christian burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. He is survived by his wife, Olivia Ganske of Los Angeles; daughter and son-in-law, Lee Ann and Fred Bower of North Hollywood, Calif.; grandchildren, Athena Bower of Encino, California and Dean and Maria Bower of Los Angeles; and brother, Edward Ganske of Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister; and brothers. He was born on Oct. 7, 1910, in Sleepy Eye to Fred and Mary (Kuelbs) Ganske. He married Olivia Krzmarzick on June 28, 1940 in Los Angeles. He owned and operated Pete's Market and drove delivery trucks for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Cathedral Chapel in Los Angeles, and a past member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. Florence Gustafson , 88, of Hector died Tuesday, Dec., 7, 1999, at Renville County Hospital. Services are 2 p.m. Friday at t Palmyra Covenant Church, Palmyra Township in rural Hector with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation starts noon Friday at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Hughes Funeral Home of Hector. Thelma Wolff, 92, of Redwood Falls died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at Sunwood Good Samaritan Care Center in Redwood Falls. Services are 2:30 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls, with burial in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in rural Redwood Falls. Visitation is one hour before services Sunday at the church. Nelson Funeral Service handled arrangements. She is survived by a sponsored girl, Hwa, Joe Oh; brother, Virgil Thompson of Inglewood, Calif. ,and sister Esther Nymark of Russellville, Ark. and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband Sidney in 1989; and brothers, Herman, Leroy and Clarence. She was born June 24, 1907 in Wergeland Township, Yellow Medicine County, to Ed and Carrie (Larson) Thompson. She resided in rural Porter and attended Canby Schools, graduating from Canby High School in 1927. She graduated from St. Paul Bible Institute in 1938. She attended teacher training in Canby and Mankato off-campus schooling. On June 18, 1949, she married Sidney Wolff at Porter. They farmed in Delhi Township near Redwood Falls until retiring in 1984 and moving to Redwood Falls. She taught school for ten years prior to her marriage and then did substitute teaching. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She served as chairperson of Ladies Aid in EUB church and taught Sunday School. She sponsored a Korean girl through World Vision of Pasadena, Calif.
