Peter Rathmann, 91, of Gibbon, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, at the Fairfax Community Home. Arrangements are pending with the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon. Harvey Gieser, 68, of St. James, formerly of Mountain Lake, died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999 in St. James. Services are 7 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, St. Francis, with burial at a later date. Visitation is 2-4 p.m. today at Missionary Alliance Church, Mountain Lake. Sturm Funeral Home, St. James, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Francis Christian School. He is survived by his wife JoAnne; children, Jeffrey and wife Deb Gieser of Louisa, Va., Cynthia and husband Bill Borner of Elbow Lake, Bonita and husband Todd Tersteeg of Coon Rapids, and Steven Gieser of Butterfield; six grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Ronald and Irmgard Gieser of St. Paul, Richard and Darlene Gieser of Wisconsin, Harold and Pat Gieser of Mitchell, S.D., Douglas and Linda Gieser of Ohio, JoAnn and Richard Olson of Trimont, and Audrey Davey of St. Paul; and sister-in-law Patricia Triebes of Saratoga, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Captain Kenneth Gieser. He was born Oct. 20, 1931 in Alpha, to Harold and Marie (Harris) Gieser. He graduated from Sherburn High School in 1949 and attended Minnesota School of Business for two years. He began working for Northrup-King in 1950. He married JoAnne Mounts on Nov. 15, 1957 in St. Paul. The couple resided in the Twin Cities area until 1985, when Harvey transferred to Chattanooga, Tenn. with Northrup-King. He retired in June 1992 and the couple moved south of Mountain Lake until his illness forced them to sell their home in October. William Neiman, 85, of Springfield, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato. Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Springfield, with burial 1:30 p.m. in Hope Cemetery, Minneota. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday and 7:30-8 a.m. Tuesday at Sturm Funeral Home Chapel, Springfield., and will continue Tuesday one hour prior to services at the church. Military rites by the Springfield American Legion. He is survived by his wife Irene; sons, Eugene Fodness and wife Barbara of Minneota and David Neiman and wife Lyn of Sioux Falls, S.D.; grandchildren, Kelly, Jean, Aaron and Larissa; great-granddaughter Emma; sisters, Ione Svendsen of Tyler and Verna Rae Gardner of Bellingham, Wash.; and aunt Alma Bartling of Ivanhoe. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Virgil and Leslie. He was born July 14, 1914 in Verdi, to William and Thora (Jacobsen) Neiman. He attended school in Tyler, where he graduated from high school. He worked for the Chicago & North Western railroad for 47 years, retiring as maintenance gang foreman. He married Irene M. Fodness on April 22, 1943 in Minneota. He served in the U.S. Army during World war II in England, France and Germany, from Dec. 1943 until he was honorably discharged in Dec. 1946. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Springfield, for many years, where he was an usher. He was head usher for the past 27 years. He was also a member of Springfield American Legion.
