David Cunningham, 43, of Madelia died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, at Madelia Community Hospital Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madelia with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the church and one hour before the service at the church. Pilgrim Funeral Home is handling t arrangements. He is survived by son, Benjamine of Madelia; daughter, Nicole of Mankato; sisters., Roberta (Bobbie) Boelter and husband Virgil of Mankato, Janice McCabe and husband Rich of Olivia; brothers, Jerry and wife Toni of Rochester, Steve and wife LaVonne, and George and wife Jody all of Madelia, and Jeffrey and wife Dawn of Red Wing; special friend, Deb Haedt of Madelia; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was born March 10, 1956, in Madelia to J.T. and Ruth (Nasman) Cunningham. He graduated from Madelia High School in 1974. He married Karen Lunz on Dec. 30, 1977. They lived and farmed in rural Madelia until ill health forced his retirement in 1996. The couple divorced. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as a trustee and usher. He was also a member of the Watonwan County Deer Hunters Association and the Mankato area singles support group. Ruth Benzel, 84, of Madelia died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, at Madelia Community Hospital. Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Salem Lutheran Church in Madelia with burial in the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Pilgrim Funeral Home in Madelia and also one hour prior to the service at the church. She is survived by sons, Donald L. and wife Sharon of St. James, Larry D. and wife Jeanne of Madelia, Kenneth A. and wife Judith of Jackson, Ohio; daughter JoAnn R. Cochran and husband Milo of Kasota; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Viola Golden of Prescott, Ariz.; brother, Elmer Mees and wife Evelyn of Blooming Prairie; sister-in-law, Doris Griner and husband Ray of Truman. She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter, six sisters and two brothers. She was born Nov. 6, 1915, in Willow Creek to Carl and Wilhelmina (Urban) Mees. She attended parochial school in Willow Creek and graduated from Garden City High School in 1933. She married Lawrence Benzel on June 19, 1933, in Lewisville. They farmed in rural Madelia until his death in March 1979. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Madelia where she taught Sunday School and was active in Martha and Rachel circles. Marie Soiney , 85, of Redwood Falls, formerly of Thief River Falls, died on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at Parkview Nursing Home in Belview. Mass of Christian burial is 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Redwood Falls with private burial at a later date. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today with a prayer service at 6 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and will continue 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. She is survived by two daughters, Joy Rhoden and partner William Moeglein of Walker, Jan Revier and husband Ralph of Redwood Falls, seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Tracy and her husband Ed Jensen of Mesa, Ariz.; and brothers, Otto Arnold of Everett, Wash. nd Leo Arnold of Grand Forks, N.D. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Leonard Singer and Joe Soiney; brothers, John, Archie, William and Fred; and sister Rose Brunk. She was born on Sept. 7, 1914, in Bow Island, Alberta, Canada to Thomas and Martha (Geatz) McElheney. She attended schools in North Dakota and Minnesota. She married Leonard Singer on Sept. 21, 1933, at Rhoda, Minnesota. The couple fanned for three years and then owned businesses in Trail, Rolland, and Okee. She worked as a linotype operator for the Oklee Herald also. She moved to Thief River Falls where she worked in retail stores and was manager of the Thief River Falls Hotel for a few years. She married Joe Soiney in November 1964. She was a member of the Veterans Auxiliary. She moved to Redwood Falls in 1993. She was a member of St. Catherine's Church. Inez Hanna , 79, of Redwood Falls died on Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, at her home. Services are 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls with burial in the Morton City Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today at Nelson Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and continues one hour before the service Thursday at the church. She is survived by her husband, Dale of Redwood Falls; children, Judy Lutgens and husband Butch of Lonsdale and their son Cole, Bob Hanna and wife Nancy of Morton and children Lori Goelz and husband Larry of Pipestone, Lisa Hanna and fiance Chris Warner of Bend, Ore., and Scott Hanna and wife Tina of White, S.D. She was preceded in death by sisters, Ina Sieber and Evelyn Hogan. She was born on April 17, 1920, in Sherman Township, Redwood County, to Otto and Anna (Patzwald) Sieber. She lived in Sherman Township. She graduated from Morton Public School in 1937. On Feb. 13, 1943, she married Dale Hanna at the Morton Methodist Church. They farmed in Sherman Township, Redwood County until 1979 when they moved to Redwood Falls. From 1980 until 1998 they wintered in Apache Junction, Arizona. She worked at the Franklin Nursing Home from 1963 until 1972. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a member and held various offices in Ladies Aid and circles at Morton and Redwood Falls Methodist Churches and also was a member of the Methadults Fellowship Group. She was a 4-H leader and a member of the Extension/Chatter Club. She belonged to the Levis and Lace Square Dance Club and was a member of the Redwood County Horticulture Club. Helen Becker, 80, of Madelia, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at the Madelia Community Hospital. Arrangements are pending with Pilgrim Funeral Home, Madelia. Gertrude Kiecker , 89, formerly of Fairfax, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at Fairfax Community Home. Services are 1 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Fairfax with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Fairfax. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of the arrangements. A complete obituary will appear in Thursday's edition. Lucille Wels , 77, of Rt. 2 Nicollet died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at New Ulm Medical Center. Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 4 - 8 p.m. today a Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Nicollet and one hour before the service at the church. She is survived by her husband, Herbert Wels, of Nicollet; daughter and son-in-law, Margo and Wayne Jeske of Minnetonka; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Joyleen Wels of Nicollet, son, Gerald Wels of Nicollet and his fiancee Roxann Rauschendorfer of Mankato, six grandchildren, Eric Jeske, Michele Fitzner and her husband Chad, Nichole Wels, Benjamin Wels, Cortney Kranz, and Darren Wels; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a grandson, Jonathon Wels. She was born Oct. 1, 1922, in Granby Township, Nicollet County, to Emil and Hulda (Drill) Krohn. She married Herbert Wels on Sept. 27, 1946, at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet. They farmed in Granby Township, Nicollet County, until retiring in the early 1980s. She was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet.
