   Donald P. Engel, 74, of Yuma, Ariz., and formerly of New Ulm, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, of pneumonia.
   A memorial service will be held in Yuma, Ariz. on Dec. 28. Gravesite rites will be held in New Ulm in the spring.
   He is survived by his wife, Beverly of Sioux Falls, S.D., children, Kathryn Ubl and husband Joseph of Albert Lea; Paul Engel and wife Susan of San Diego, Calif., and William Engel of New York City; brother, Delphin and sisters Erna and Alice.
   He was preceded in death his parents; brother, Clem; wife, Arlene; and daughter, Emily.
   He was born Feb.23, 1925, in Amboy to Paul and Lydia Engel. He married Arlene Fischer of New Ulm on May 1, 1949. He owned and operated Fischer Auto in New Ulm. He also worked at Martinka Motors.

   Gertrude A. Kiecker, 89, of Fairfax, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999 at Fairfax Community Home.
   Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John Lutheran Church in Fairfax with burial in the church cemetery.
   Visitation is 10-11 a.m. today at St. John Lutheran Church in Fairfax. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is in charge of the arrangements.
   She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-laws, Ruth and Lyle Nicolai of Janesville, Marie and Douglas "Duke" Kramer of Gibbon, and Margaret and Richard Waldschmidt of Hudson, Wis.; son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Elaine Kiecker of Fairfax; 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sisters, Martha Schapekahm of New Ulm, and Ruth Krueger of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; brother, Donald Seehusen of Wisconsin Dells, Wis.; sister-in-law, Jean Kiecker of Fairfax; and nieces, nephews.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer J. Kiecker on Feb. 19, 1976; brother, Harold Seehusen; sisters, Wilhelmina Seehusen and Arlene Leidheiser; and three grandchildren.
   She was born on Oct. 10, 1910, in Winfield Township, Renville County to Bertus and Anna (Schroer) Seehusen. She graduated from DMLC High School in 1928, attended one year of normal schooling at DMLC. She received her RN degree from the Union Hospital School of Nursing in New Ulm in 1933. She married Elmer J. Kiecker on Sept. 8, 1934 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. They lived in Fairfax She worked as a nurse part time at Union and Loretto hospitals in New Ulm for more than 20 years. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Fairfax, Ladies Aid, Ladies Choir, and she served as an officer of Lutheran Women's Mission Society and as an officer of other church committees.

   Helen Becker , 80, of Madelia, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at Madelia Community Hospital
   Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Salem Lutheran Church in Madelia with burial in the Riverside Cemetery.
   Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Pilgrim Funeral Home, and again one hour prior to the service at the church.
   She is survived by son, Dean and wife Cathy of Madelia; three grandchildren; brothers, Duane and wife Barbara Pingeon of Windom, James and wife Patricia Pingeon of Marshall, Robert and wife Betty Pingeon of Seattle, Wash.; sister, V. Lorraine Doering and husband Walter of Madelia; many nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, George, David,, Marcel and Donald; nd sister Mabel Nelson.
   She was born Feb.21, 1919, in Hartly, Iowa, to Marshall and Hazel (Bales) Pingeon. She grew up in the Butterfield and St. James area, attending school in Butterfield. She married Harry H. Becker on Dec. 11, 1952 at Salem Lutheran Church in Madelia. They farmed in rural Madelia until 1960. Harry died Jan. 1, 1986. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and was active in the Ladies Aid.

   Josephine T. (Schiltgen) Lucker Mayer, 100, of Holy Family Residence Little Sisters of the Poor, St. Paul, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999. She is the mother of Bishop Raymond Lucker, head of the Catholic Diocese of New Ulm.
   Mass of Christian burial is 2 p.m. Monday at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 8260 Hudson Blvd., Oakdale, with burial in the church cemetery.
   Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Little Sisters of the Poor, 330 Exchange St., St. Paul, with a prayer vigil at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday, noon to 2 p.m., at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Little Sisters of the Poor.
   She is survived by her children, Rosemary Kern and husband Gregory of Richfield; Bishop Raymond A. Lucker of New Ulm; Mary Jo Haggerty and husband Frank of Roseville, Gerald A. Lucker and wife Mary of Pengilly, and Peggy Grobe and husband Don of Millville; 32 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren.
   She was preceded in death by her husbands, Alphonse J. Lucker in 1940 and Joseph S. Mayer in 1992, and seven brothers and sisters.
