FAIRBORN, Ohio (AP) - A dormitory at Wright State University was evacuated Monday following the discovery of a suspicious bottle outside the building, authorities said.
A groundskeeper discovered the 16-ounce plastic water bottle next to a trash bin outside the honors dorm, said David Finnie, assistant chief of the Wright State police department.
Finnie said the bottle contained a small amount of soapy-like liquid and aluminum foil. He said authorities feared it might be a bottle bomb, so the dorm was evacuated and the bomb-squad summoned.
Finnie said a member of the bomb squad punctured the bottle, and there was no reaction. He said it could not be determined whether the bottle was actually a bomb.
Only a few students were in the dorm at the time because classes were in session, he said. The building was evacuated for about 90 minutes.
Fairborn is just northeast of Dayton.
